Sustainable software
November 25, 2009
SIG's ambition is to provide the public and private sector with sustainable, future-proof, maintainable software that offers long-term functional support.

Today's organisations face an important challenge: to respond quickly and flexibly to changes in society. This places high demands on business operations and the adaptability of auxiliary software systems. Therein lies a major bottleneck: the comparatively low technical quality of many business-critical systems. This produces software with limited adaptability, incapable of "keeping up" with the dynamics of a society that is constantly changing. Generally speaking, this type of software delivers short-term functionality. However, due to its limited adaptability, it is not future-proof and therefore not sustainable. The promise of generic packages and 'modern' agile IT has not, or only partially, been fulfilled.

Technical quality is the key to producing flexible, adaptable and sustainable software systems. By making software monitoring a permanent feature of your Quality Assurance programme, it is possible to deliver software of a high technical standard, capable of offering long-term functional support.
