The following statement was proposed on behalf of the Software Improvement Group:
“Failing IT projects adversely affect the performance of the public authorities”

“Almost two thirds of the respondents believe that failing IT projects adversely affect the smooth functioning of government departments. The OV chipcard for public transport and the revenue office are two examples mentioned in this context. The negative impression created by these failures affects the overall image, resulting in a braking effect. Twenty percent of all respondents do not agree. The term ‘adverse effect’ is too strong. The civil service just keeps working without having much of an ‘impact’ on citizens. It is, however, problematic and it costs a lot of money.”
